Hardcore Esplanade
A 7 track jungle / drum 'n' bass ep (32m 54s) — released February 28th 2006 on Waltzer
In this crazed EP for 2006 Andy Jenkinson's "Ceephax Acid Crew" puts the 303 in the cupboard and gets out the breakbeats and sends them through a cheese grater to create this 7 track mentalizer "Hardcore Esplanade". From the start with the title track "Hardcore Esplanade" we know we're in for a bumpy ride as flanged out breaks and arcade game bloops fly past at the velocity of a fairground ride gone wrong. Vaudeville melodies drop in to say hello like passing sideshows. "Exide Rider" is perhaps the most serious track which has Ceephax's trademark melodic skills complimenting the crazed amens. The synths in "Into Battle" and "Camelot Fossil" display Ceephax's medieval arcade game influences such as Golden Axe. "The Gold Zone" finishes things off on a nicely hopeless vibe. Take a stroll on the Hardcore Esplanade and try not to trip on the Andy Floss.
